JOIN ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING ROWING CLUBS IN THE COUNTRY
Dundee University Boat Club is not just one of the hardest working and passionate student clubs in the country but also the University itself. Founded by a small group of medics in 1991, the club has grown from a small presence on campus to one of the most successful- Winning club of the year in 2017 and 18, The Victor Ludorum trophy at Scottish Rowing Indoor Championships, members being elected to sports Union Exec and our Club President being crowned Volunteer of the Year for 2019/20.
Based on the banks of the River Tay near Perth, we are an ambitious student-run club, welcoming all, no matter your rowing ability. Whether a prospective student, alumni, or supporter, we encourage you to get in contact and stay up to date with all of our successes to come.
The (almost...) Ergathon
From the 12th to the 18th of April our club members are erging, running and cycling pledged distances that are multiples of 18km to raise money for club equipment and the Dundee based mental health charity Feeling Strong.
The fundraiser serves multiple purposes, we were unable to run our annual ergathon last year due to Covid-19 so this year we decided to do the (almost...) ergathon to allow our members to fundraise even with the current restrictions, it also serves as a conclusion to our "What's Rowing On in Your Head?" series of articles about mental health that has been written by members and released over the past month. (Linked in the image below)
We chose the distance of 18km as the main figure for the pledged distances as this is the number of suicides that occur daily in the UK as of the 2019 office for national statistics figures. We felt this figure was important to emphasise as suicide is the leading cause of death in females aged 10-34 and males aged 10-49 (2019, office for national statistics).
Our fundraising link is live and accessible below (click image), please donate what you feel you can, if not we ask you to take a few minutes to read our articles. We greatly appreciate it.

Upon my very first outing with Dundee University Boat Club, as a bright-eyed first year and newcomer to the sport, I hardly could have grasped an understanding of the impact that it would later play in my university experience. Never mind that I would have the privilege of leading it as President in my final year of studies. To the unfamiliar, this club may pose the facade of ‘just another university rowing programme’, however, beyond the tartan of our base-layers and leggings, you’ll find a community of students whose determination and dedication to their club is one of Olympic proportions. Coming up to our 30th Anniversary, DUBC is in its infancy compared to a landscape of more traditional and longer established rowing competitors in the UK. Despite this, it has accomplished incredible development and promises a bright future for defining what Dundee has to offer to the exciting world of this sport.
