February Review

February at DUBC started off with our annual Christmas dinner, this had been postponed due to covid and flight restrictions being put in place just before the winter break. However, a successful night was had by all with everyone dressed up and enjoying some good food and company. We had some fun prizes being handed out too. Big thanks to Innis and Gunn for providing the meal and venue, it was a pleasure.

In the middle of February, the freshers were given a chance to host a revenge night to get their own back on the seniors after Super Saturday earlier on in the year. Safe to say they did a good job with an action-packed evening organised for both Men’s and Women’s crews.

The SU had their fundraising ceilidh with members from DUBC attending and getting a nice refresher on their Scottish Country dancing skills. All the feedback from the evening was very positive and it was a nice way to return to in person SU events after covid while having a break from competitive training.

Our competitive senior squad took 2 crews to attended BUCS head down in Newcastle at the end of the month. There was a Men’s 4 competing in the Intermediate 4+ category and an Intermediate Women’s 4x competing. Despite the bad weather and high winds greatly affecting training and time on the water in the run up to the competition, both crews had very good races and finished in respectable positions in both categories.

There’s a lot to look forward to in March, with Inverness 4s and 8s head just around the corner, everyone is really excited!
